Bipolar For Beginners

New book written by a bipolar patient for other bipolar patients. Read sample.

“I wish I had had this book when I was first diagnosed. Warm, caring, funny and right on the money, it is a great book for newbies and veterans of bipolar disorder alike!” (Ruth, 35, UK)

“The best thing about this book is that it describes numerous coping strategies that might seem obvious… unless no one told you about them. And as in my experience doctors tend to neglect that, I couldn’t recommend reading “Bipolar for Beginners” strong enough.” (Ewa, 26, Poland)

“I felt like a dear friend shared with me all the need to know information based on personal experience and caring that he’d experienced first hand. […] This honest and supportive narrative is a must read for anyone who needs a quick start to how to begin to deal with the diagnosis of mental illness and bipolar disorder.” (Amazon review by awinter)

My name is Grant Thorsson. I have been diagnosed with Bipolar II in October 2011. Upon my diagnosis I haven’t received any information about the illness. I was shocked, terrified and upset; I was previously diagnosed with depression and I felt I knew how to live with it. Bipolar was a new beast that I didn’t know how to fight.

My book, “Bipolar For Beginners”, is for those who have just recently received the diagnosis — or for those close to them — who would like to understand the things I didn’t back then. It’s a short and concise compilation of knowledge I acquired in the time that passed since I got diagnosed. I do not pretend to be a medical professional — I am just a patient, like all of you. I do not write in medicalese — I write in plain English and share the knowledge I needed back then. I hope you will find it helpful.
